NBA Draft round 1 analysis

NBA Draft round one analysis

I know that the NBA draft was three weeks ago but with summer league coming up I thought that I might as well sneak this in now while I still can.

Pick 1 Deandre Ayton
The first pick in the draft went to the Phoniex Suns. The 7-foot power forward out of Arizona had a great Freshman season and is projected to have a big impact in the NBA.  But is he the answer that the Suns need to turn their franchise around and make the playoffs.

Pick 2 Marvin Bagley

The second pick in the draft went to the Sacramento Kings.  With their pick, they selected Marvin Bagley out of Duke.  Bagley was great in college in his one year at Duke.  He was ACC rookie of the year and first team all American.  He will fit nicely with the other young talent in Sacramento

Pick 3 Luka Doncic

The Third pick of the first round went tot the Atlanta Hawks.  They slected Luka Donic from slovenia.  Luka is an Electric transitional player who rebounds and pushes with a purpose.  He is powerful and a creative open floor playmaker.

Pick 4 Jaren Jackson Jr.

The fourth pick of the first round went to the Memphis Grizzlies.  They Selected Jaren Jackson Jr from Michigan State.  Jackson is an extremely physical center that can also make it rain from downtown.

 Pick 5 Trae Young

The Fifth Pick in this round went to the Dallas Mavericks.   But thier was a trade with the Atlanta Hawks. The Hawks selected Trai young out of Oklahoma during his year at Oklahoma.  Young is an excellent passer with 9.8 assists per game.  Young is supposed to be the start of the rebuild in Atlanta.

Pick 6  Mo Bomba

The next pick in the draft was Mo Bamba out of Texas.  He went to the Orlando Magic.  Bamba is a tall physical center that can shut down any scoring option inside the paint.  Bamaba is a perfect fit for a extemly physical Orlando magic tea.

Pick 7 Wendall Carter Jr.

The 7th pick was Wendall Carter Jr out of Duke.  Carter went to the Chicago Bulls.  Carter is one of the safest players in the draft and will definetly become a productive pro.  Carter is as well rounded player as there is in the draft.

Pick 8 Collin Sexton

The next pick in this round was Colin Sexon from Alabama. Sexton had a great freshman season with Alabama and went on to the NBA draft.  He was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers.   Sextons toughness and ability to put pressure to the rim allow for him to be the possible replacement for Lebron James in Clevland.

Pick 9 Kevin Knox New York Knicks

The 9th pick in the draft was Kevin Knox.  Knox played college ball at Kentucky.  Knox is not an immediate impact player.  But he will have time to develop in the NBA being only 18.  GIven the Knicks desperation to surround Kristaps Porzingis with strong talent.  Kevin knox will fit into the Knick organization perfectly.

Pick 10 Mikal Bridges Philadelphia 76ers Traded to the Phoniex

The 76ers Picked Mikial Bridges from Michigan State.  Bridges is a great player with a ton of talent that should translate well to the NBA.

Pick 11 Shai Gorgeous Alexander Clippers

The Clippers selected Shai Gulgeos Alexander out of Kentucky.  The Clippers were extremely interested in Alexander he worked out with them before the draft and the team gave up their second round pick for him.

Pick 12 MIles Bridges Charlotte Hornets

The Hornets selected MIles Bridges out of Michigan State.   After a trade with the Clippers, the Hornets moved back a spot in the order.  Although Alexander would be a better fit for Charlete they got a more NBA ready player in Miles Bridges.

Pick 13 Jerome Robinson Clippers

The Clippers selected Jerome Robinson from Boston College.  Robinson will bolster the Clippers Backcourt as a scorer. THesse qualities allow him to be in the league for a long time.

Pick 14 Micheal Porter Jr Denver Nuggets,

The Denver Nuggets selected Micheal Porter Jr out of Missouri for the 14th pick.  This pick has some risk to it although Porter is a top-five lottery pick.  HIs downfall is that he is injury prone.  If he can stay healthy his scoring ability will elevate the play of his team.

Pick 15 Troy Brown Washington Wizard

The Wizards selected Troy Brown out of Oregon.  Browns ability to play on the ball and his defensive ability make him a great fit for John Wall and the Wizards.  He did not have a huge impact at Oregon but he can provide a physical presence for the Wizards.

pick16 Zhaire Smith Phoenix Suns
The Suns picked Zhaire smith out of Texas Tech. Smith is extremely expensive and fluid shooting guard. On defense, he can guard anyone of any size.  These values are extremely important for a NBA players.

Pick 17 Donte DiVincenzo Muakee Bucks

The Bucks Selected Donte DiVincenzo out of Villanova.  DiVincenzo had an outstanding final season with the Wildcats championship season.  Divanzo is a physical center that can also drop bombs from downtown.  He is going fit perfectly with Bucks with his power offensive ability.

Pick 18 Lonnie Walker San Antonio Spurs

The Spurs selected Lonnie Walker out of the University of Miami.  Walker has an impressive COmbination of length strength and explosiveness that allows him to play above the rim and in space.

Pick 19  Kevin Huerter Atlanta Hawks
The Hawks selected Kevin Huerter from Maryland.  Huerter is a complete offensive player he can catch and shoot quickly and accurately.

Pick 20 Josh Okogie Minnisota TImberwolves

The Timberwolves selected Josh Okogie out of Georgia Tech.  The Timberwolves selected Josh Okogie out of Georgia Tech.  Okogie has a physical profile of an NBA guard but has the reputation s a great defender.  Although he is prone to turn the ball over he should be able to fi that and fit in the next level with the Timberwolves.
