2018 Wild Card weekend preview

The NFL Playoffs,Four weeks of debatably the best football all season.  As this years Playoffs come around I can’t help but remind myself of the best part of the NFL.  Where teams fight  for more than just standings they fight for there season.  The Playoff is where players earn their legacy.

Match up 1  AFC Wild Card (9-7) Tennessee TItans vs (10-6) 4th seed Kansas City Chiefs (4:30 ESPN)

The action starts with the AFC  wild card the (9-7) Tennessee Titans VS The (10-6) Kansas City Chiefs.  In the previous week, the Titans won their way into their first postseason birth since  2008 by defeating the Jacksonville Jaguars 15-10.  The Titans have had success off of capitalizing off of turnovers with offensive power in Demarco Murray and Derrick Henry.   The Titans have won 2 out of their last 5.

The Kansas City Chief are the AFC West division champions this year with a record of (10-6).  The Chiefs have been in the playoffs many times but winning in the playoffs has been a struggle for the Chiefs team.  After going 12-4 last season The Chief had the second seed and a first-round bye but lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the division round.   The Chiefs got out to a 5-0 start and dropped quickly with bad losses to Steeler, Raiders, Cowboys, Giants, Bills, and Jets.  They have won four straight to capture the AFC West title and the 4th seed in the AFC Playoffs.

My prediction
I think this game will be entertaining.  The loss of Demarco Murray will  hurt the Titans offense too much.  I don’t think that Derrick Henry will not be able to fill the role of Demarco Murray.  Even though he did it in college at Alabama. With that said I think the Chiefs will take this one at home 35-21 Chiefs.

Match up 2 Atlanta Falcons(10-6) vs. Los Angeles Rams (11-5) (8:00 NBC)

The Saturday slate concludes with a high offensive battle between the Los Angeles Rams Vs. the Atlanta Falcons.  The Rams make their first playoff appearance since 2004.  The Rams have been dominant in the NFC this year with an offense that has soared compared to the downfall of last season Jared Goff has thrown for 28 touchdowns this year compared to only 5 last year.  He has done it mostly with the help of the Third  year running back Todd Gurley who has been a threat on the ground and in the receiving game. The NFC North champions look to make a deep playoff run.

The other team in this matchup the 6th seed(10-6)  Atlanta Falcons.  The Falcons won their way into the second wild card seed in week 17 with a win over the Carolina Panthers 22-10.  The Falcons making back to back playoff appearances for the second time in franchise history.  Last season the Falcon started 5-0 and cruised into the playoffs but were stopped short of glory by the New England Patriots.  This season has been different. With losses to the Bill and the Dolphins the Falcons had to win there way into the playoffs. A big factor for the Falcons in this game may be the health of Julio Jones who has an ankle injury he should be ready to go for Saturday, but he needs to be 100% if the Falcons are going to compete with Jared Goff and the Rams offense.  The Falcons have won three out there last five.  Four of those last five matches have been division matchups.

My prediction
This is going to be a great matchup of high powered offenses. These two teams did not play each other this year.I think Todd Gurley and the Rams will be too much for the Falcons. I think this game is going to be really close and high scoring.  I think that the Rams will take this game 35-28.
